The Effigy of Animus

This started off as a Viscom 4 assignment but when i applied a story that i've been working on for a while to the homework piece i ended up having much more fun.

This is an god effigy deep in the rainforest twith magical glowing elements indicating some deep mysterious advanced technology. There is an obvious "Atlantis" influence and i also referenced some babylonian and assyrian monuments and sculptures for the design.

As one of the god robots of creation, Animus is the father of new mankind. Pieces of his body are embedded in various statues all over the world giving off a deep glow when in contact with a similar technology. The embedded fragments of his technology being so powerful, enrich the surrounding areas creating lush beautiful environments.

i know i've done a lot texture work using photos, but very little of my work has pure photoshop brush use. I definitely need to find my midground between brushes and photos. Right now i'll just keep building my mileage in photoshop brush work and brush creation.

Hey guys, this is my Imaginatomy project for Rey Bustos' class. It was a fun class in which i learned much about bone structure and anatomy. We looked at how nature designs animals giving them form as a result of their habits. I tried to design based on what this cat's lifestyle is. I uploaded my process book and you can see the final diorama that i built based on this giant cat's habitat.

I will have better pictures of the final later.

I meant to put this up for Halloween but between midterms and zombie attacks it got pretty hectic (almost blew the head off a zombie but i realized it was just a sleepy Art Center student) . I'll probably dump a huge post of my work after term. Good Luck survivors!

PS next year EVERYONE should hit up the Code Red Airsoft Zombie game. BB Airsoft Pistols, Shotguns, and foam melee weapons only. It is pretty much Left 4 dead. it was quite awesome

This is a new process that i'm practicing in Creature Design Class. I start with a photo of a person and drop photo textures and use liquefy and warp to change proportions.

Pumpkinhead inspired Creature Design

This is a design inspired by Pumpkinhead. i basically took the idea of front-heavy knuckle walking primates and tweaked the proportion giving it a more spider-like read. I gave it an alien head inspired by sea life and little nasty arms to push the sickly scary vibe.
I will update with a fully resolved version later.

Weremolerat creature concept

Hey guys,
this is my weremolerat concept for Creature Design class. Although the main influence is a molerat, I incorporated more aggressive hyena elements making it more top heavy with a hunch and a hump. cuz face it, molerats aren't very aggressive, more sickly with baggy skin. The Hyena element also let me add some mangy fur which also reads as residual human hair after the transformation. I had tons of fun with the sickly aspect of the molerat. Jared Marantz pointed out that wrinkling occurs where there is the most movement. Everybody loves cataracts!

Following an awesome critique from Jerad Marantz i had to fix this guy up make him look more...live action, somethings about his nose were getting too stylized and was losing all the good textures from my photos when i painted over them, also the arms and legs were a bit muddy so i cleaned them up a bit, Cheers folks enjoy!

sup guys, this is a concept for the Alien Race project for Design Process 2 with a bit of king kong love story thrown in for a more interesting rider/mount backstory. The beast is entranced by her voice so her control over him as a rider is voice recognition. If hes going berserk she can lull him to peace by singing a tune, earning her the nickname "Siren" or the Aliens that don't like human singing call her the "Banshee".
